Made’s grandfather taught him bird calls before the alphabet, on the same forest paths you’ll walk. This is a before-light start into the Munduk cloud forest, where mist hangs in the clove trees and the dawn chorus builds like an orchestra tuning.

Expect barbets, sunbirds, flowerpeckers and — on good mornings — the Javan kingfisher that Made can usually summon by knowing exactly which perch it favours. It ends at his family’s farm with coffee grown fifty metres from your cup, roasted over a wood fire.

✨ Highlights

  • Dawn chorus deep in the cloud forest
  • Binoculars and spotting scope provided
  • A guide who knows individual birds’ favourite perches
  • Farm breakfast with estate coffee, wood-roasted

✓ What’s included

  • Binoculars and scope use
  • Farm breakfast and coffee
  • Bird checklist with Made’s notes

📍 Meeting point

Munduk village warung (pin sent on booking), 5:15am

“Tourists see the terraces from the road. My neighbours grew the rice. Walk with me and meet them.” — Made Wirawan

More birds in three hours than the rest of our trip combined, and the best coffee too.

He heard a kingfisher, held up one finger, and thirty seconds later it landed exactly where he pointed. Sorcery.
